Looks like there's a new series on the horizon; Ladybug (or Miraculous Ladybug?)! It looks about half magical girl and half super hero series, so we'll have to see. It's actually a french cartoon, not anime, though Toei was a part of production!

I'm having trouble finding a lot of information about it for some reason, but here's a PV that was released recently for it.

Looks interesting... the costumes kinda ruin it for me, but that's not too big a deal. A Magical Girl without a mini-skirt? For shame. XD I don't like her Robin style mask, but at least it hides her identity.

I saw a reference! When that big guy smashes the wall beside the main girl, she runs out of the dust cloud Precure All-Stars style.

I actually don't mind if she is not in a cute dress like we usually know in your "typical magical girl" themes. Magical Girls... Or "Heroines" themselves are technically "super-heroes" or something like that shown here. (I actually am waiting or wishing to have a new character in Tiger & Bunny to have a magical girl character with weapons since mana doesn't exist here..)

Anyway, coming from Toei and that other studio.. Oh wow the animation or pilot trailer really got me in the hype! I also like dance pop songs (no matter if I don't know the language), so this got me engage into the basic story on this! (I love the double-sided love relationships. xD)

Since I don't wake up in Saturday mornings to check out my local "cartoons" anymore, I do hope that this gets shown on the internet soon so I can watch it "anime streaming' style!

Makes me feel glad that Toei is doing a anime project for the viewers outside their homeland (there are some leaked .gifs of the characters in a different animation/art style). Although, their studio site has confirmed that LadyBug will air at USA, Europe, and "Asia", which I do hope Japan itself will get a taste of "magical super-heroine" with a tricky lovesick sidekick!



And yea. Following the Miraculous Ladybug tag at Tumblr. I hope we can boom some new magical girl fans?

From what I've read it will air in France first, then Japan.

That means I'll be avoiding searching the show's tags, since I'll be watching the Japanese version and I don't want spoilers.

I wonder who the voice cast will be.

In terms of French animation, I remember "Wakfu" had a huge success rate (AKA gaining a fandom online) and had an interesting story... Or so I herd. It's a fantasy-based story and eventually had a Stragedic-MMORPG up online. (The art style is sort of-anime-ish, but in their own flavor. Probably same for the promo picture I post up.)

Anyway, subs for French "anime" (AKA Wakfu again) is hard to come by as there are no groups (or little) who are willing to translate and sub it. So yea. I do probably hope Japan gets it so the Japanese-sub groups can get to their job! (Hoepfully another Doremi Subs team.)

Oh and fandom is now "Tomchats" or "Ladybros"... I hope you fandom are sane and not following the INSANE Brony way..

Not sure on the voices, but I hope the overall story and character development was done well, and I don't care if it had some magical girl tropes. They are fine by me. Also LadyBug pretty much inspire me to remove mysterious-magical-girl with one of my male OCs in my originall "Heartcross" creation.

I am so excited for this, you don't even know.

I am still not sure if Toei did the animation/character designs for Ladybug (that differs from the 3D movie promo art and the flash gifs I found)... But I have pulled a mini-discussion reblog through my blog. Gifs are there as well as reference.

One thing that I notice that set apart from Toei’s LadyBug and *insert PreCure series name here*, is that the transformation background for Marienette is just a still image, while for all I know, the PreCure Franchise had nicely-done animated backgrounds. So... You think Toei did the character animation or coloring? Or something else? Also do you think that the transformation sequence will improve (in a PreCure-like quality) when the show's production was about done?
