| Here's a story I've been working on since recently, based off the third and more dominant part of Digimon: The Movie (actually it's mostly based off its Japanese counterpart Digimon Hurricane Touchdown, but with some dialogue from the dub thrown in for good measure). Sorry if it sounds a bit too much like the original, I'll try to make it different as the story goes on. This is an All Stars fanfic, mostly Smile and a few OCs (which I'm trying my hardest to make as believable as possible), but the other teams do make cameos.
Enjoy!
Disclaimer: The only things that belong to me in this story are my characters (Diana/Cure Hyperion, Jezebel/Cure Erebus and Helios). If I owned Pretty Cure or Digimon I'd probably be the head of Toei.
Chapter 1: Big Apple Chaos
February 1st, 2006.
In a field of flowers, twins Diana and Jezebel Cartwright, both young fans of Pretty Cure, ran and jumped around in joy, celebrating the Dark King's ultimate defeat, without a care in the world. Diana, the younger sister with a daisy on her hair, was running right ahead of Jezebel, the older, who giggled as she clumsily tumbled among the flowers. Behind them, the air shimmered slightly, and a barely-perceptible mist formed. Diana turned to see it, and then looked around the field, suddenly noticing that Jezebel was gone. As the mist dissipated, Diana cautiously takes a step or two forward. "Bel?" she called for her sister, but gets no answer.
Tears of worry start to form in Diana's eyes, as her cries became more and more desperate by the minute. "Bel, where are you? Bel! BEL!"
As Diana's voice echoed by the field, the flowers stirred softly in the breeze.
July 17th, 2012.
It was a perfectly ordinary summer day in Nanairogaoka, Japan. The current generation of Pretty Cures, the Smile Pretty Cures, were enjoying their summer vacation as much as they could. Three of them were having fun and minding their own business at a summer camp near the beach: Miyuki Hoshizora, the team leader, was helping her yellow-clad teammate, Yayoi Kise, with building a sandcastle just like the one the latter sketched earlier that day, and Akane Hino watched them with a chuckle as she sunbathed – fittingly enough for the Cure that has powers over the sun and fire.
Meanwhile, the other two Smile Cures, Nao Midorikawa and Reika Aoki, were spending their vacation at the United States – New York, to be more specific. At the time, they were taking a look at the pictures they took the previous day, with an acquaintance of Nao's family. "There, all done!" Minori Hyuuga, the now sixteen-year-old sister of Saki Hyuuga, alias Cure Bloom, exclaimed with a satisfyed grin.
Nao chuckled as she leaned in closer to take a look at the screen of Minori's laptop. "I'm sure Akane will be fuming with envy when she sees these pictures." she remarked, pushing a lock of dark green hair behind her ear, "She's been dying to go to New York ever since we saw Entranced on DVD last month, remember?"
Reika was about to nod in agreedment when she suddenly felt a shiver go down her spine, her smile changing into a frown of concern. "Aoki-san? What's the matter?" Minori wondered, placing the back of her hand over the bluenette's forehead, "Are you feeling alright?"
"Yes…" Reika began to explain, "But just now I sensed a strange presence. There's someone… crying out there."
At that moment, Candy, the Smile Cures' mentor fairy, popped out from inside of Reika's purse at this. There was no problem with showing Candy to Minori, as her older sister Saki used to be a Pretty Cure before, so Minori had an idea of what the Pretty Cure business was like. "Someone crying ~kuru?" Candy asked, "I wonder if the Bad End Kingdom has anything to do with this ~kuru…"
In response to this, Nao began looking around so she could see any signs of any Bad End Kingdom denizen. "Doesn't look like it. I don't see anyone with a Bad Energy aura." she stated, "And even if there was someone from the Bad End Kingdom here, the whole city would be affected, not just one person."
Just then, a familiar-looking mist swirled around the four of them, catching them by surprise. Minori gasped and her eyes widened as she felt a shiver go down her spine just like with Reika, letting her laptop fall to the ground. "Onee-chan…"
At another, darker part of the city, more of the mist faded in, curling around a fire hydrant. A young girl stepped backward, away from the mist; given her frilly white and mint green outfit studded with gems and feathers, she appeared to be a magical girl, more specifically a Pretty Cure. This was Diana Cartwright, obviously older and right now under the Pretty Cure alias of Cure Hyperion, who watched as the mist surrounded a mailbox, which crumpled, and a set of traffic lights, which sparked. A garage door rumbled in the wind, and a chain-link fence clattered as a newspaper blew past, clinging to it for a moment. When the paper blew off again, standing behind the fence was Cure Erebus, a Cure similar to Hyperion in appearance, but clad in a black and gold outfit, and eyes sporting no irises or pupils whatsoever.
Hyperion took a deep breath and approached Erebus, who was hovering in front of her, a gold aura surrounding her hands. "Bel… This has to end!" Hyperion protested, "Please stop it!"
As a cyan dove-like fairy stood beside Hyperion, Erebus lumbered forward, and smashed the fence down. The fairy, Helios, leaped up and grabbed onto her arm, being flung around as Erebus tried to shake him off. Helios was quickly hurled back over the remains of the fence, and Erebus followed him. Erebus lept into the air to knock Helios out of it, but Helios glided back down easily with his wings, managing to back himself up to the end of the alley, as Erebus continued to approach. Hyperion rushed to her fairy partner and stood in front of him, creating a bow and arrow of light with her bare hands.
"Pretty Cure Celestial Comet!"
The arrow slammed into Erebus and exploded, but the dark Cure continued to approach. Hyperion turned her head away, as an attempt to shield her eyes from the shockwave of the blast as she fired another ineffective shot. Erebus made it to the end of the alley and zoomed towards Hyperion and Helios with open arms, but Hyperion, holding Helios in her own arms, jumped over her as Erebus slammed into the wall behind her, and glided up into the air. Erebus turned and fired on them with her own bow and arrows, hers made of shadows.
"Pretty Cure Poison Comet!"
Hyperion and Helios soared lo and fro in the air, avoiding the blasts, as Hyperion fired another arrow, which smashed Erebus square in the face. Erebus floated clean up the side of the nearest building to try and get to Hyperion and Helios, who flew away from her as Hyperion lept.
As the fight continued, Nao, Reika and Minori rushed in, as Nao held Candy in her arms, to witness what was going on. "I've never seen these Pretty Cures before ~kuru." Candy pointed out, "Reika, do you think one of them is the one you felt it was crying ~kuru?"
Reika took a step forward, watching as Hyperion slammed into a wall and fell to the ground, dropping Helios beside her. "The one in black… It seems like she needs our help…" Reika stated.
Breathing audibly, Hyperion weakly struggled to stand up as Erebus hovered towards her and Helios. "Bel, DON'T!" Hyperion shouted, tears beginning to form in her eyes, "Bel, can't you understand? It's me, Dia."
In response, Erebus struggled to stay her own hand, and floated away, as the mist swirled around her, Hyperion raising one arm to reach for her. "Go… back…" Erebus whispered, as she vanished from everyone's sight.
No one could believe on what was happening. "She's gone…" Nao said to herself in shock before she rushed towards the chain link fence and grabbed onto it, "Hey, you! Over here!"
Hyperion's gaze turned to Nao as she furrowed her brows. "Don't follow me! You're in danger, I swear!" Hyperion shouted, taking Helios in her arms and running away, "C'mon, Helios!"
Still bewildered by all of that, Nao turned towards Reika, Minori and Candy and approached them in confusion. "Okay… I seriously don't have any idea of what happened." Nao stated, her gaze focusing on Minori, "By the way, Minorin, I heard you say something about your sister a while ago…"
Minori merely nodded in concern. "I heard onee-chan's voice when that mist came up for the first time. Maybe those new Cures have something to do about this." she pointed out, "Onee-chan and all the other Cures need our help…"
Meanwhile, all the previous generations of Pretty Cures were transported to a completely dark and empty void, and were all unconscious. Hibiki Houjou, Cure Melody of the Suite Pretty Cures, was the first one to regain consciousness, as the others soon followed after her. "What… What is this place?" she asked, her voice echoing around the void, ironically enough, given the meaning of her name, "Is everyone okay?"
As she stood up, Hikari Kujou, Shiny Luminous of the original Pretty Cures, grabbed onto her head as if she had a headache. "I don't think so… My head hurts…" she moaned, as her teammate Honoka Yukishiro, alias Cure White, wrapped an arm around her waist.
Karen Minazuki, Cure Aqua of the Pretty Cure 5, looked around the void in confusion. "Why exactly are we here?" she wondered.
"The last thing I remember was a strange mist surrounding me while I was taking care of a sick dog." Inori Yamabuki, Cure Pine of the Fresh Pretty Cures, began, "And then… Everything went dark."
Inori then turned towards her teammate Setsuna Higashi, alias Cure Passion, who tapped her chin thoughtfully. "There's something really suspicious going on…" she pondered, "Do you guys think it was Fusion? Because this is pretty much how Love told me it was like inside him when she fought him before I became a Cure."
Miki Aono, alias Cure Berry, looked down at her feet, taking a quick look at the floor. "It doesn't seem like it. The floor was different, more like thick liquid reaching the knees. This one is more smooth." she pointed out.
Saki merely sat down on the cold floor, completely dumbfounded by what was going on. "Whatever this place is, I have a terrible feeling about it." she said, looking up and clutching her chest, with obvious concern in her eyes, "Minori-chan, do be careful." |

| Back at the beach in Nanairogaoka, Miyuki became exhausted of all the fun and games on the beach and returned to the hut at the campsite to take a refreshing shower, which she had to interrupt after feeling the familiar scent of okonomiyaki nearby. After she was done, dried and with her clothes on, Miyuki rushed to the kitchen, where Akane was making Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, and Yayoi was sitting by a circular table, watching as Miyuki came in and sat beside her. "Sorry for being in such a rush, I haven't eaten anything since we left and I had no idea Akane-chan would make okonomiyaki today…" she remarked sheepishly.
Yayoi just giggled in response. "It's okay, Hoshizora-san. Hino-san's okonomiyaki tends to do that kind of thing to you." she pointed out, twirling a lock of blonde hair around her pointer finger.
Akane then approached them with three plates of okonomiyaki. "Everyone! The lunch is ready!" the redhead announced, placing the first plate in front of Miyuki, the second in front of Yayoi, and the final in front of her, "Ready when you are!"
"Thank you for the food~" The three chorused more than ready to eat…
…when the phone started to ring, getting the attention of all three of them. "I'll get it!" Yayoi shouted standing up and rushing to answer the phone, "Hello?"
"Yayoi-chan? It's me, Nao. Can you hear me?"
All Yayoi did was nod in agreedment. "I'll put it in speakerphone mode so the others can hear you too, okay?" Yayoi told her teammate, pressing a button which changed the phone to speakerphone mode, "Everyone, come here. It's Midorikawa-san."
Miyuki and Akane simply rushed to where Yayoi was so they could hear Nao's call. "Hey, Nao-chan! How are things going over there in New York?" Miyuki asked, "Did you and Reika-chan check out that wax museum I've told you about yet?"
"Sorry, Hoshizora-san, but we didn't have time to. Anyway, there are some really weird things going on over here. We were checking out the pictures we took with Minorin when some weird mist appeared out of nowhere and we saw two Cures fighting, one in white against one in black… According to Aoki-san the one in black needs our help, but it doesn't look like it… Either way, this is very suspicious. You guys have to come here so we can find out what's going on."
Once Nao was done explaining, Miyuki just nodded in agreedment. "All we have to do is ask Akane-chan's parents if they can find a way to take us there, even if it means having to pack our bags again. We'll reach you guys before you even know it."
"Okay then, Hoshizora. Good luck. See you there."
Meanwhile, at a rail crossing, a detransformed Diana and Helios had just jumped into one of the train carts as the train rattled past. "Dia, I'm tired ~heri..." Helios whined, laying beside Diana and turning his glance towards her, "We're going back, aren't we ~heri? To the flower field ~heri?"
Diana didn't answer. Instead, she just stood up and walked to the other end of the train cart, where her duffel bag was, picking the bag up and sitting down once again. "Helios, you're being too noisy." Diana pointed out, "I know Bel is coming after me, but I don't know if she even knows what she's doing..."
Helios, confused, began to approach her as she continued, taking out the daisy she used to wear on her hair and staring at it, "I know, because she's my sister. And as a Pretty Cure, I'll fight her if I have to."
"I'm not sure of what you mean…" Helios remarked, rushing towards Diana and sitting down besides her, "…but there was no need for you to attack her ~heri."
Diana just let out a sigh as her gaze returned to Helios. "Helios, can't you see? She isn't the same as before. Her mind is in the wrong place."
As the train kept rolling on, Helios leant against Diana, wrapping one of his wings around her leg, and gave her a soft smile. "I'm sure your parents must be worried about you ~heri…" he remarked.
"It's okay, Helios. I'll call them later."
Later, after leaving the train car, Diana and Helios trudged along a dusty roadside, past a gas station, with the sun beating down on them. "Now, remember what Bel said. 'Go back'. That's why we're going to the flower field. It's where this whole mess started." Diana told her companion.
"But why did we have to leave that train ~heri?" Helios complained exhaustedly, "It's too hot out here ~heri! My soles are already worn out and I don't even wear shoes ~heri!"
Diana simply rolled her eyes and turned to Helios, kneeling down to his level. "You forgot you can fly, didn't you?" she pointed out, running a hand down the dove fairy's wing, "You're a bird, remember?"
In response, Helios crossed his wings over his chest and gave Diana what could very well be a pout if he had any lips. "Why don't we just hitch another ride and get this over with ~heri?" he questioned.
With a concerned frown, Diana patted Helios before standing up and continuing to trudge. "You know that with each passing day Bel is getting more and more violent. She's making anyone close to us disappear." she stated, "Now let's get out of this sun. It's too hot even for me."
As Diana said the last part, Helios flapped his wings and floated all the way to her, landing on her head. "Helios… What do you think you're doing?" she wondered in confusion.
Helios just grinned in response. "This way I don't have to walk, and you can stay in the shade ~heri. Now we're even ~heri." he replied with a chuckle, puffing his wings up to provide more cover for her.
Diana continued to walk, giggling slightly at Helios' sudden action. "That's better, but you're much more heavy than I thought…"
Meanwhile, Minori typed on her laptop as she, Nao, Reika and Candy were on their way to Lincoln, Nebraska, where they have deduced, through whatever means, that it was the location of Diana and Helios' destination. "Nao-chan, Aoki-san, just now I got a message from Miyuki and the others." Minori stated, "It says that they're on their way to something called the Lincoln Bird… Anyone has an idea of what that is?"
Nao and Reika looked at each other in confusion before turning back to Minori. "Frankly, I have no idea of what that must be…" Reika began, but was interrupted when her Smile Pact started to glow gold, "Huh? My Smile Pact…"
Amber light bathed the train car, and Nao jumped out of her seat to look out the window. The train was surrounded on all sides by the amber void, with no sign of the rest of the world through it. As Nao watched, the familiar figure of Cure Erebus became visible through the amber. Reika and Minori saw her, and jumped out of their seats as well. "It's that black Cure from earlier ~kuru! Nao, Reika, transform ~kuru!" Candy commanded, her head popping out of Reika's purse.
Nao and Reika nodded, readying their Smile Pacts, when suddenly the Pacts began to glow with beams of rainbow-coloured energy. The train grinded to a shuddering halt, hurling Nao and Minori down the aisle, and Reika and Candy over the seat in front of them. As Reika grabbed Candy and swung herself over the edge of the seat, Minori picked up her laptop and looked around, seeing no trace of Erebus or the amber light... or of any of the other passengers in the car, for that matter. Outside the train, a few faint wisps of that familiar mist dissipated into the ether.
Suspicious about this, Nao rushed to the door of the next car, only to find out it was completely empty, a few more wisps of the mist fading away. "There's no one left here besides us." she stated turning back towards Reika, Minori and Candy, "This keeps getting stranger and stranger by the minute."
"What in the name of Märchenland is going on ~kuru?" Candy wondered.
The next day, Miyuki, Akane and Yayoi finally arrived at the USA thanks to Yayoi's uncle who was an airplane pilot. As Miyuki and Yayoi checked the map to Lincoln, Akane leaned against a fencepost, looking off at the farm on the other side. "I apologize, Yayoi-chan, but your uncle is one lousy pilot." Akane remarked before questioning, "So, where exactly are we?"
Yayoi took a good look at the map, trying to recognize the place they were at. "It appears we're somewhere near Lincoln…" she replied.
"…a rather high area, or so I have heard." Miyuki added.
In response, Akane let out a cry of annoyance as she ran to the side of the road and clutched her head. "I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE! WHEN ARE WE SUPPOSED TO MEET WITH NAO AND REIKA ANYWAY?" she snapped at the top of her lungs, "THIS DEFINITELY HAS TO STOP!"
As Akane screamed, a truck drove past and cames to a halt, apparently in response to her ranting. The three approached the driver to explain what happened, not noticing another hitchhiker's legs disappearing inside the back of the truck. "Sorry about interrupting, sir, but it's just that I'm starting my own truck stop and I was testing it up. Seems like it works just fine." Akane lied before asking the driver, "Can you let us ride with you?"
The driver, taking a lollipop out of his mouth, merely gestured to the back of the truck, as if allowing them to enter. "Thanks a lot, sir." Miyuki smiled at the driver as she went towards the back of the truck and climbed on board, with Akane and Yayoi following suit.
The door shut as the truck drove off, while inside Miyuki sighed in relief as she sat down against a corner of the truck besides Yayoi, who had her sketchpad and pencil in hand. "Y'know, deep inside I had a feeling someone would stop for us. That's the power of the sun for ya." Akane chuckled, raising her arms to rest her head on them.
Miyuki giggled in response before she took notice of the other hiker, who was none other than Diana, patting the sleeping Helios. "Oh, hi there." Miyuki greeted crawling over to Diana, "You must have had the same idea we did."
No answer. Miyuki, thinking it may be because of the language, tried to start a conversation again. "Mah nayme is Miyuki Hoshizora!" she spat out some very broken English, "Ando yahr nayme is?"
"Diana Cartwright." Diana responded, mildly annoyed, "And by the way, I speak Japanese too."
Miyuki blinked twice at this sudden answer, as Helios woke up with a yawn. "Dia, what's with all the no…" he started to say before noticing the three Smile Cures in front of them and screeching, "M-More Pretty Cures ~heri?"
Surprised by this, Miyuki yelped and backed away right onto Yayoi, who grabbed her by the waist. "Could she be one of the Cures Nao told us about?" the blonde wondered, surprised as well, but not as much as Miyuki.
Akane chuckled in amusement at the discovery. "Seems like America has Pretty Cures by the truckloads, huh?" she quipped. |
