Altarie watched the small, blonde girl on the bench. She looked upset. On one hand, Altarie wasn't immoral and didn't care to take advantage of the emotions of young girls... but on the other hand, she seemed to be in perfect position to become a magical girl. Plus, she looked like she liked cute things and, well, he was cute.

He bounded up to the bench. "Hi!" he said to the small girl. "Are you okay? Can I help?"

He curled up next to the small child and perked his head up, waiting for a response.

Belinda noticed the small animal, and tried to make out what it was. She was almost ready to creep closer and check, maybe even pet it, when it talked to her. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" she screamed, probably waking up anyone on campus who had still been asleep. "The animal is talking to me!!!!!"

Before she could run away, which was effectively the next part of her panicking, the small animal curled up next to her, as if he or she was awaiting a response. She looked at the animal for a moment- it looked like a cross between a bunny rabbit and a kitty. And it wanted to know if it could help.

"Ummmmm... I d-d-d-don't know what you can do. I'm fine," Belinda stuttered. Even as scared as she was, she didn't want to be impolite and run away anyway. Maybe someone would have heard her scream and would come and rescue her.

"You don't have to scream, I won't hurt you," Altarie replied pleasantly. "And I'm not so much an animal. I'm a person, just like you, but in a different form! My name is Altarie! Pleased to meet you!"

"As for what I can do to help, I can make you a magical girl! That usually helps people! Magic is fun and useful! And all you have to do is pet me!"

He scooted a bit closer to her, nudging her leg a little, hoping she would accept. The more magical girls he had on his side, the better. And after the one girl declined last night, he was a bit shaken. He hoped that this girl's youth would help her decide to take the plunge.

Belinda was still wary, but introduced herself politely. "My name is Belinda Beth Taplo. Nice to meet you, Altarie." If he was a person, he couldn't be too bad, right?

When Altarie said he could make her a magical girl, Belinda's eyes widened. She wasn't sure what to say. "That... that's nice," she finally managed. "Are you why there are all these magic girls around lately?" She wanted to be a magical girl, but she was still a bit scared of the small, fluffy animal. He was talking. Talking. It was creepy!

He nudged her, and she moved her leg a little, careful not to let her panties show. "Um, so, why are you asking me?" she questioned.

Not content to go to the dorms just yet Kakurine decided to wander about the school grounds. If she was going to be living here, she at least wanted to be fully acquainted with her surroundings.

Finding a nice big tree, Kakurine sat on the ground her legs crossed under her skirt. She opened her backpack and took out a thick text book labeled "Advanced Biology" and started to read. She enjoyed the peacefulness of it all. It reminded her of the quiet life back with her grandmother.

She flipped to the next page of her book and stopped. She looked up at the tree.
"I wish you were an apple tree." She said to the tree. The tree of course didn't reply. Kakurine looked up some more before returning to her book. "If you were an apple tree," She continued. "I bet you'd have rather tart tasting apples, not very good for eating by themselves but nice tasting in a pie or muffin." She flipped another page and fell silent. She didn't expect the tree to respond to her, but she kinda wished it did. Talking to plants or inanimate objects was so much easier than talking to people.

Once she felt it was time to make her way toward the campus grounds, Lila Taylor found herself wandering the campus grounds, seeking out the classroom she was to attend. Her attention was snared by a creature she had seen not too long ago. She wondered if that animal was trying to weasel another person into doing his dirty work for him. I wonder who he's trying to sucker this time... She thought to herself as she made her approach, before finally getting a good look at the victim of this endevour. "No... No way."

Her eyes tensed up with pure rage as she made a mad dash for the pair. Her fancy shoes were soiled as she slid across the ground, stopping between the creature and her roommate. "Back off fuzzball!" Lila ordered, leering at the creature as she raised her left hand as if she was ready to backhand someone. Her right hand rested against the inner part of her left wrist as if her left arm was a shield that was being held in place by the right hand. "I will NOT let you get this girl killed doing your dirty work. She's way too incompetent to fight monsters."

At first Lila merely questioned his motives. Now she was certain his motives were exactly what he claimed them to be, but still didn't like the idea of innocent little Belinda falling into his hands. "You can go now fleabag. Find someone else to sucker."

Altarie was just about to respond when the girl from the night before came running towards them, looking extremely angry and scary. "Back off fuzzball!" she yelled, and Altarie instinctively took a step back. The girl was small for a human, but large compared to him. She looked like he was about to slug him too. "I will NOT let you get this girl killed doing your dirty work. She's way too incompetent to fight monsters," she continued. "You can go now fleabag. Find someone else to sucker."

"Get her killed? Who said anything about that? The job isn't that dangerous, not with your friends here to help you! You could both become magical girls, and work together!" Altarie chirped more cheerfully than he felt. "You could have a lot of power, and Belinda could have cute outfits and make a lot of new friends! Wouldn't it be lovely?"

Too late, he considered that when this huge girl was already looking murderous, maybe recruiting wasn't a good idea. But she had power. Belinda was less powerful, but still good enough to help his cause. And maybe this point would calm the girls down... maybe.

Belinda was just calming down from the shock of a kitty-bunny-alien thing talking to her when suddenly Lila came crashing and upsetting her again. It took some effort to hold in tears. "Killed? Lila, is he really going to get me killed?" Belinda asked, biting her lip. "I don't want to be a magical girl if I have to die!"

She stood up, and walked a few steps from the others. "Altarie? Lila?" she asked. "Why are you fighting? What is going on?"

Keeping her hand firmly gripped on her left wrist, Lila backed away from Belinda, not taking her eyes off of Altarie for a second. "Allow me summarize this in the easiest manner possible." She began, making sure not to let him and his disgusting ears anywhere near the little girl. "This creature from another world screwed up and allowed our world to be invaded by potentially dangerous monsters. Now he wants to turn us into Magical Girls so we can fight them for him."

Lila wasn't sure if Altarie was being completely honest, but even if he wasn't, what he was telling her was enough to raise some questions. "But personally I cannot believe we know everything we're getting into. This creature could either be speaking only from a certain perception of the truth, or outright lying. Either way it's too risky, especially for someone like you." Lila's words came with equal parts protective and equal parts condescending, not believing Belinda to be capable or competent enough to risk her life for the sake of a creature who was too weak to clean up his own messes. "I apologize for making you waste your time, but we have classes to get to." She took to Belinda's side and began to lead her toward the school building, away from the dorms and the creature that was trying to coax them into becoming enigmas of wonder.

"Fool. You can't just go around making people Magical Girls. Everyone knows a Magical Girl is chosen by destiny." Lila muttered as she looked over her shoulder, hoping the creature wasn't following them.

"Whoa!" Belinda said. "Like, aliens? I just thought he was a weird little kitty or something!" Her eyes widened and she looked at Altarie. To her, the creature looked relatively innocent. But then again, so did boys, and her grandmother always said they were dangerous too.

Lila started to speak again, using a lot of big words that Belinda didn't know. But she figured out the gist- Lila was not confident in her ability to be a magical girl. If Belinda had still wanted to, that may have been insulting. But now, she wasn't sure. She allowed Lila to lead her away towards the school building and thought about what had happened. Altarie was an alien... he had unleashed monsters... well, whether it was his fault or not, didn't everyone, as citizens of Earth, have a responsibility to defend the planet?

She didn't dare bring her thoughts up to Lila. The older girl seemed completely stubborn to her, amazingly unmoveable. And if Lila said something, it might just lead to another fight.

Lila muttered something that Belinda couldn't hear and looked over her shoulder. Belinda followed her gaze, then put her head forward and stared at the ground. "I'm sorry, Lila," she said quietly. "I didn't mean for you to come and rescue me. It must have been a lot of trouble that you didn't have to go through."
